Meeting time
The group agreed that no change should be made to the meeting time (Fridays at 4).
Potluck
Boma's place on Saturday, the 19th at 6pm.
UVic Diversity Conference
Boma and David to present about receiving the community building fund which was used to finance last semester's event. A video clip will also be presented during the event.
Black History Month
David suggested ACSA hosting an event to celebrate Bob Marley's birthday around February 9 in Touch or 9one9. This money (profits from $5 ticket sales) will be used to fund later events. Segun and Francis will assist David.
Brainstormed topics for the symposium but agreed on "black identity in Canada". Francis will moderate as well as prepare some questions for the panelists ahead of time. Student panelists will also be presented with possible questions as well.

What it means to be black in Canada?
How do you negotiate your cultural identities?
Melting pot vs mosaic imagery
What problems/challenges do you face?
How does race affect your institutional experience?
When you immigrate, what problems do you face?
It was agreed that the event should last 2 hours with a short refreshment break. Many questions and concerns were raised about what we should call the event. No name was decided.
Venue: David Strong Building (C116) which can sit about 60 people.
Advertising: On/off-campus since this is a community event.

Movie Screening
This will take place after reading break and ACSA will collaborate with the African Eloquence Club.
Victoria African & Caribbean Cultural Society
Nominations being collected for women of color who have made a positive impact in the society. ACSA was asked to sit on the selection committee. Francis volunteered.
Costco
David suggested buying things in bulk from Costco using Segun's car in order to cut costs. A few members indicated interest.
